The Birmingham based Midlands Retail Forum (MRF) supports businesses in the retail, leisure and hospitality industries. It supports members through business development expertise, peer-to-peer support and excellent networking opportunities with other businesses who operate within the sector.

The Golden Quarter (October – December each year) is the most important and rewarding times for retailers, leisure and hospitality businesses. It covers Halloween, Black Friday and of course the Boxing Day sales. Whilst you may start seeing Christmas displays and promotions in September, the planning starts much earlier in the year.

September’s MRF event will look at how businesses can prepare to maximise footfall, bookings and sales during the final quarter of the year. Recent events have welcomed guest speakers, expert panel members and delegates from Google, Touchwood, The Bullring and the Jewellery Quarter Business Improvement District.

MRF Chairperson Saira Nisa said: ‘Despite the recent times of uncertainty for many businesses, there is still a great window of opportunity. The continuous redevelopment and modernisation of Birmingham City Centre, the introduction of HS2 and other recently announced improvements to public transport between Birmingham are opportunities to drive growth in the region. Lets not forget, Birmingham is set to host the 2022 Commonwealth Games which is only four years away and this will drive tourism into the region and bring with it business and consumer requirements to cater for visit such as dining, entertainment, family-friendly spaces for fun as well as to rest.’
