BBC1 DOCUMENTARY – 17TH JUNE @19:30

Punjab United from Gravesend, Kent, was formed in 2003, like most clubs they started up as a grassroots team playing amateur Sunday league football.

Although the club is run & managed by British Sikhs, Punjab United is a community club welcoming and encouraging players from all backgrounds. The club has now grown significantly since it’s formation, adding Junior, Youth and Adults teams to their structure with the aim to grow and promote players from within.

Today they are semi-professional football team competing in a Step 4 national league system. They are the first team in the Gravesham borough to achieve this status.

After a successful couple of years with back to back promotions and cup victories, they find themselves in the Southern Counties East league.

The BBC “Our Lives” documentary series was filmed during the 2018/19 season. It follows the teams inaugural journey in the Southern Counties East league.

For the first time ever the team are facing a relegation battle, and the stresses are starting to show. But will the bonds made in times of triumph hold strong when their backs are against the wall?

This is fascinating behind the scenes documentary capturing the highs and lows of a campaign could ultimately end up as a disappointment, or as a fantastic achievement.
