Kareena Kapoor gets PETA nod
BOLLYWOOD actress Kareena Kapoor has been voted sexiest vegetarian for 2008 by animal rights group PETA.
The actress, who scooped the title for the second successive year, shared the award with Indian cricket star Sreesanth.
The duo beat off stiff competition from the likes of Pamela Anderson and Sir Paul McCartney in PETA India’s annual Sexiest Vegetarians Alive poll.
“If my fans are looking up to me and have turned vegetarian, then I am happy about it. I am a pure vegetarian and it helps me keep fit and healthy,” Kareena said.
“If my fans turn vegetarian then I am glad to be an example for them,” she added.
A four-time Filmfare Award winner, Kareena is one of the most sought after actors in Bollywood.
Anuradha Sawhney, head of PETA India, said: “When you look at the dozens of gorgeous celebrities in this year’s poll, there are no bones about it – a vegetarian diet makes you beautiful inside and out”
“After all, going vegetarian is the best thing you can do for the animals, the Earth and your health. Plus, everyone knows that there is nothing sexier than someone who exudes both passion and compassion.”
