Woman found dead in Dudley house

Police name victim as Yasmin Akhtar

A WOMAN found dead in a house in Netherton, Dudley has been named by police.

The body of Yasmin Akhtar, 24, was found by police officers at a property in Purlin Wharf in the early hours of Monday.  

She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

A 27-year-old man was arrested by officers at the scene on suspicion of murder.

Detectives have been granted further time to question the man in connection with Mrs Akhtar’s death.

A post mortem failed to find the exact cause of death but identified Mrs Akhtar had sustained a head trauma.

The incident has also been voluntarily referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission by the force’s professional standards department as part of a review into the management of risk involving Mrs Akhtar in the days leading up to her death.
