International charity, Penny Appeal, announce that Egyptian mountaineer and marathon runner Manal Rostom will be running for the charity in this year’s London marathon.

The world’s first Nike Hijab model and coach is also the first Egyptian woman to summit 2 out of the 7 highest summits in the world. Apart from completing 5 sprint triathlons, Manal has also run over 13 half marathons and various full marathons including Dubai, NYC, Kuwait and even one 50K solo run. She is also the first Egyptian woman to run the length of the Great Wall of China Marathon, and her mission is to be the first Egyptian to run all the World’s Six Major Marathons.

Haroon Mota, who is Head of Challenges for the international humanitarian charity Penny Appeal, says: We are proud to have such an inspirational woman running with us. Manal is part of our team of 15 runners who are raising money for Penny Appeal’s Dig Deep campaign which aims to provide safe, clean drinking water for children, families and the elderly living in Africa.

Manal says: “So very proud to be running for Penny Appeal this year, for a good cause. This is my first London marathon, I hope that we can make a big difference by raising funds to support the Dig Deep campaign, I also want young Muslim women in Britain to realise that they can do anything they want in life as long as they believe in themselves.”
