Sushmita Sen served notice to failing to prevent mosquito breeding

Sushmita Sen is the latest Bollywood star to be slapped with a notice by the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) for failing to prevent the breeding of aedes aegypti mosquito in her home. She follows closely after Shahid Kapoor, who was found to have breeding sites in his apartment and swimming pool. Last year, Anil Kapoor and Juhi Chawla and Jitendra were prosecuted by the BMC for the same.

The mosquito spreads deadly diseases such as dengue and chikungunya which are currently racing through Indian towns and villages. One such person to fall prey was Vidya Balan, who starred in Kahaani 2, and has been diagnosed with Dengue.

Multiple mosquito breeding sites were found in Sen’s home, a crime that can incur a fine of Rs 10,000-20,000 and prosecution.

In the last month alone, there have been more than 1500 people admitted to hospital suffering from dengue, a disease which causes high fever, severe headaches and pain behind the eyes.
