Once in a Life Time Opportunity for Abbey College Students

Budding business students from Abbey College Birmingham had a once in a life time opportunity to go behind the scenes at some of the most iconic business and financial institutions on a recent trip to New York, where they were able to develop their business acumen and hone their financial understanding.

20 students and three teachers gained a unique insight into one of the world’s greatest cities and some of its landmarks during their four day stay last week.

The knowledge thirsty students attended a business and marketing workshop at the renowned Madame Tussauds where they learned the art of creating a successful business.

They followed the beneficial talk with a guided walking tour of the financial district, where they were able to gain an insight into one of the largest financial centres in the world.

The eager students also visited the Empire State Building where they experienced the incredible views of the city.

The students made the most of Manhattan with some students watching an exciting basketball game – the Brooklyn NETS V Milwaukee Bucks at the Barclays Centre, whilst others watched The Phantom of the Opera at the Majestic Theatre.

The lucky group also took a ferry to Ellis Island to see the Statue of Liberty, where they could take time to appreciate the important landmark.

The Sony Wonder Technology Lab, on Madison Avenue was the next stop for the enthusiastic students who used the experience to develop their understanding of the importance of bringing technology and creativity together.

Ground Zero was the last stop for the students who took the time to remember those affected by the attacks on 9/11.
