Met officer charged with rape

Shahzad Malik, 31, to appear before Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court

A METROPOLITAN Police Officer has been charged following an investigation managed by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

Trainee Detective Constable Shahzad Malik, 31, who was based at Hounslow Police Station has been charged with rape and two counts of sexual assault and is due to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 19 May 2010.

On Sunday 10 January 2010 a 27-year-old woman reported to police that she had been raped two days earlier by a police officer at Police Section House in Brentford, having met him on a website.

The case was referred to the IPCC and a decision was taken to manage the Met’s investigation.
