Five-year-old Syed Yasin Hussain suffered ‘fatal injuries

A FIVE-year-old boy who died in hospital after being hit by a lorry has been named by police.

West Midlands Police said Syed Yasin Hussain suffered fatal injuries on Friday afternoon near his home in Small Heath, Birmingham, when he and a six-year-old boy were struck by a Volvo truck.

Both children were taken to Birmingham’s Heartlands Hospital after the accident.

The older child was treated for minor injuries and shock after the incident, which was attended by two ambulance crews and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said Syed had suffered numerous injuries and was confirmed dead at hospital despite prolonged attempts to resuscitate him.

The driver of the lorry, a 37-year-old man from Yardley, Birmingham, was uninjured.
