Court hears terrorism charges against Dudley man

Remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey

An unemployed man from Dudley has appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court on two charges relating to the distribution of a terrorist publication entitled Join the Caravan.

 

Usman Hussain Choudhary, aged 33, from Terry Road, was not required to enter a plea and spoke only to confirm his name and address.

 

He was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on 20 December.

 

Details of the charges authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service are:

 

On 30 September 2013 engaged in conduct falling within subsection (2), namely distributed or circulated a terrorist publication, namely Join the Caravan and at the time of doing so intended an effect of his conduct to be a direct or indirect encouragement or other inducement to the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.

 

 

On 12 December 2013 engaged in conduct falling within subsection (2) namely had a terrorist publication namely Join the Caravan, in his possession with a view to it becoming subject of conduct falling within any of the paragraphs (a) to (a) of subsection 2 and at the time of doing so intended an effect of his conduct to be a direct or indirect encouragement or other inducement to the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.
