Detectives appeal for information

POLICE have named a Leicester murder victim who was found dead from a stab wound.

Nazir Taj Sheikh, 36, was found in Grove Road near St Saviours Road in the Highfields area of the city at about 3.48pm on Monday March 8.

He was rushed to Leicester Royal Infirmary where he died a short time later.

Parts of Grove Road and surrounding roads have been cordoned off by police as forensic examinations take place.

Detectives have launched a murder inquiry and are urging anyone with information to contact police.

Superintendent Craig Moore, who is leading the investigation, said:  “The victim was wearing a black baseball cap, black bomber jacket and dark tracksuit bottoms at the time of the incident, I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and saw the victim prior to the incident taking place to contact the police.

“The Grove Road area is quite busy, particularly around the time of the incident and I am urging members of the community to come forward with any information they believe may assist with our enquiries.  We can assure you that any information we receive will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the incident room at Leicestershire Constabulary on Leicester (0116) 222 2222.
