Dilbag Singh to appear in court

POLICE have today charged a 26-year-old man with attempting to pervert the course of justice following the trial of a man convicted of attempted murder.

Dilbag Singh, 26, of St Pauls Road, Preston, was arrested by officers from Lancashire’s Major Investigation Team in Preston today. He was charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice and was remanded in custody to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning.

The arrest follows the trial of Kyle Parvez, 21, formerly of Arnhem Road, Preston, who was convicted at Preston Crown Court in November 2008 of the attempted murder of Mr Singh following a shooting incident in the city’s St Stephen’s Road in April 2008.

Parvez was given an indeterminate sentence but ordered to serve at least 10 years in prison before being eligible for parole.

Zainul James, 18, of The Green, Ribbleton, who was found guilty of arson, being reckless as to whether life was endangered, was sentenced to five years imprisonment.
