The BYSA Ackers Summer Camp from 3rd August to the 24th August 2022 was a massive hit for the Kids and the community over 100 plus were in attendance offering football, basketball, cricket, volleyball, badminton, rounders and much more to boys and girls. Supporting children who were entitled to free school meals, this was all down to Claire Wheeler from street games/bring it on brum for bringing this initiative in order for kids to be active and involved, helping them mentally and physically.
Also in attendance supporting the initiative was Royal Navy – Edmund Grandison and Andy, Event cycle Chantal Kerr-Shepard, well-being service TAWS – Neomi Wilkinson, local councillor Shabrana Hussian, Steve Jewell – Ackers Adventure, Major from 5ups and Bhanu dhin From Steps To Work and professor Paul Cadman – BYSA Chairman.
The summer camp was well catered for with a healthy lunch from Love Chaii thank you to Mariam & Adam Kiani for putting on a range of different lunches for the kids drinks, crisp, fruit, cookies, baguettes, sandwiches.
On the final day all kids were awarded a medal for attending and the coaches awarded a special prize for the kids who did exceptionally well over the summer camp which raised aspirations and confidence so everyone was a winner.
