The funeral of the father who was stabbed to death in Sparkhill on July 12 has been announced.

Malik Hussain, from Small Heath, died after being knifed on Baker Street.

A notice, circulating on social media, says his funeral will take place following prayers at 2pm on Friday (August 2) at the Ghamkol Sharif Mosque, off Golden Hillock Road.

Appeals were made to remember the victim in prayers.

The community have been posting their condolences of Facebook.

Karen McCarton said: “So sad another life lost leaving a family devastated. RIP my thoughts are with his family an friends, fly high amongst the angels.”

Colind Davies added: “Very sad news R.I.P. thoughts with the family.”

Laura Elsie Capper said: “So sad.. Rest in peace condolences with his family and friends.”

Mr Hussain was murdered opposite Arden Primary School on Warwick Road and Avon Park on Baker Street.

* Haseeb Mirza, 25, of St Benedicts Road, Small Heath, has been charged with Mr Malik’s murder.
