Last week, business-owners in Walsall and Smethwick had the opportunity to develop their knowledge of cyber-crime and improve their ability to protect their companies at two completely free to attend NatWest Cyber Crime events.

The events covered how cyber-crime affects both businesses and the individual business-owner, and were hosted by Business Growth Enabler at NatWest, Harinder Kunor. A total of 60 business owners attended the two events, which were held in partnership with West Midlands Regional Organised Crime Unit and Think Sandwell.

The events were completely free to attend and took place in Walsall at The Hub on Monday 27th June, and in Smethwick at Sandwell Business Solutions Centre on Friday 1st July.

The first of the presentations was held by Detective Sergeant Gary Sirrell on the current cyber threat landscape and the UK’s cyber strategy, and the second presentation was given by Amrik Singh of Vibrant Networks on how to protect a business from cyber threats.

The event finished with a Q&A session that gave attendees the chance to receive expert advice on any queries they might have.

Harinder said: “We had a great turnout for our Cyber Crime events, which have proved to be very popular with business-owners emerging into a digital world. There is so much potential for your business to be attacked electronically and at these events we hope to prepare you to avoid it. You can never know too much about keeping your business safe! Technology keeps advancing so there is no doubt that we will hold more of these events.”
