25-Year-Old Poses No Immediate Threat to Public Safety, According to Police

A Yardley man arrested on suspicion of Syria-related terrorism offences has been released on bail by police.

The 25-year-old terrorism suspect was detained at approximately 7am on Wednesday by officers from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit in a pre-planned and intelligence-led arrest.

According to police, the man, who was arrested at an address in Billesley on suspicion of preparing for terrorist acts, poses no immediate threat to public safety.

His bail conditions include orders to live and sleep only at his home address and to report regularly to a police station. He has also been told to surrender his passport as well being prohibited from travelling to an international airport or port.
