A man from Birmingham has been charged with attempted murder and firearms offences after a shooting in Derby on April 27.

Adam Yunus, 24, of Hamstead Road, was due to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court.

A 26-year-old man was shot in Coleridge Street, Sunny Hill, Derby and rushed to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.

Det Chief Insp Darren De’ath, who is leading the investigation, said: “I would like to thank the community for their assistance in this investigation.

“While we have arrested ten other people in relation to this incident the investigation is still ongoing and we have a number of lines of enquiry that we are following.

“A number of officers will be revisiting the area this afternoon and I would urge anyone who has information to speak to them in confidence.

“Derbyshire Constabulary will not stand for the use of guns on the streets of our county and we will do everything within our power to bring those who use them to justice.

Derbyshire Police have said they are still keen to speak with people who may have been in the area between 1pm and 2pm.

They are also seeking dashcam or CCTV footage..
