The lord Mayors charity Appeal is £1,500 closer to its target thanks to a donation, received this week, from the Sikh Union Club.

The money was raised by participants who took part in their annual ‘Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji Charity Walk’ in November. Cllr Michael Hammon, Lord Mayor of Coventry, officially started the 10 mile walk that started and finished at Guru Nanak Prakash Gurdwara (Temple) in Harnall Lane East, taking in several places of worship along the route.

The annual charity walk, now in its 30th year, raises much needed funds for local charities and for the Sikh Union’s overseas charity work.

Bali Panesar from the Sikh Union said “We wanted to give something back to the community we live in, and the lord Mayors Charity was the ideal choice as its supporting Parkinson UK (Coventry Branch), the Rotary Club and the Holy Trinity Church Roof Restoration Fund.”
