{"id":9642,"date":"2008-10-24T12:41:06","date_gmt":"2008-10-24T12:41:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2008\/10\/24\/pakistan-spin-ace-lands-england-role\/"},"modified":"2008-10-24T12:41:06","modified_gmt":"2008-10-24T12:41:06","slug":"pakistan-spin-ace-lands-england-role","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2008\/10\/24\/pakistan-spin-ace-lands-england-role\/","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan spin ace lands England role"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Mushtaq Ahmed new ECB spin-bowling coach<\/h3>\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"275\" hspace=\"10\" width=\"180\" align=\"right\" vspace=\"3\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/Image\/ArticleImages\/MushtaqAhmed2_180x232.jpg\"\/>PAKISTAN spinner Mushtaq Ahmed has been appointed spin-bowling coach for England.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The 38-year-old former Pakistan and Sussex leg-spinner will work for the England Cricket Board on a consultancy basis and his role will include working with the spinners in the England Test and one-day squads, the England Performance Programme and Elite Player Development programmes.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Mushtaq, who was part of Bob Woolmer\u2019s coaching set up at the last World Cup, was forced into retirement this year with Sussex following a persistent knee injury.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The spinner spent some time working with England coach Peter Moores who revealed he was keen to get into coaching.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>&#8220;Mushy is passionate at some stage to coach and pass on the information he&#8217;s gained over the last 20 years,&#8221; said Moores.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>&#8220;There are certain people who can be helped to develop a certain clarity of thought. Mushy has that ability.&#8221;<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>David Parsons, the ECB performance director and formerly ECB lead spin bowling coach said: We are very excited that a bowler of Mushtaq\u2019s standing within the game has decided to join our team of specialist coaches based at the National Cricket Performance Centre at Loughborough.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cHe will have a role to play at all levels of the game.
