{"id":9534,"date":"2007-11-07T15:26:47","date_gmt":"2007-11-07T15:26:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2007\/11\/07\/star-hoping-for-return-of-kickboxing-glitz\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T16:31:17","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T16:31:17","slug":"star-hoping-for-return-of-kickboxing-glitz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2007\/11\/07\/star-hoping-for-return-of-kickboxing-glitz\/","title":{"rendered":"Star hoping for return of kickboxing \u2018glitz\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Kash \u2018The Flash\u2019Gill gears up for Brum fight night<\/h3>\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"340\" hspace=\"10\" width=\"180\" align=\"right\" vspace=\"3\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/11\/Kashtheflash180x232.jpg\"\/>ONE OF Birmingham\u2019s well-loved sportsmen is hoping to bring the excitement of kickboxing back to the city with star-studded fight night later this month.<\/strong> <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Kash\u2019 The Flash\u2019 Gill, a four-time World Kickboxing champion, declared it was high time the sport returned to its former glory in Birmingham as he announced the 25<sup>th<\/sup> November show.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The show will feature some of Birmingham\u2019s brightest up-and-coming talents as well as established kickboxers who train under the guidance of Kash.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The Birmingham central Hall event is expected to be a sell-out and Kash said he aimed to bring back the kickboxing glory days he enjoyed when he was at the top of the sport. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201c<span>For too long now kickboxing both in this country and abroad has had to play second string to other combat sports, and has lacked quality promotion,\u201d he said. <\/span><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cI aim to bring the glitz and the splendour back to what is an exciting sport.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cWhen I was fighting I fought on some very big shows and it\u2019s high time the like of those shows returned to Birmingham, and I can&#8217;t think of any better place to showcase them. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cI am looking forward to the night, it&#8217;s shaping up to be something special, and one to remember, hopefully raising the bench mark and public awareness of our sport. We are looking to provide real quality, a spectacular convenient location and of course a value for money night out the whole family can enjoy.&#8221; <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The night will prove to be a big night for Kash and the fighters themselves. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Heading the event will be Handsworth\u2019s own W.U.M.A World Champion Sunny &#8220;The Hit Man&#8221; Hira who will be hoping to unify his World Crown by adding the I.S.K.A. 57kg Featherweight Title.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The 23-year-old is somewhat of a prot\u00e9g\u00e9 of Kash\u2019s after joining the former world champion\u2019s community kickboxing sessions in Handsworth when he was just 10. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Other fighters expected on the night include two-times European Champion Tyler &#8220;The Steppin Razor&#8221; Shakespeare from Erdington who will contest the Jnr Middleweight World Title, and Simon &#8220;Mr KO&#8221; Akufo from Rowley Regis who is hoping to become the I.S.K.A.
