{"id":9322,"date":"2015-09-25T13:55:26","date_gmt":"2015-09-25T13:55:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2015\/09\/25\/rakhees-rainbow\/"},"modified":"2015-09-25T13:55:26","modified_gmt":"2015-09-25T13:55:26","slug":"rakhees-rainbow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2015\/09\/25\/rakhees-rainbow\/","title":{"rendered":"Rakhee\u2019s Rainbow"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>EastEnders Actress Becomes New Patron<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"1\" hspace=\"3\" vspace=\"10\" align=\"middle\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/Image\/ArticleImages\/Rakhee%27s%20Rainbow-447x311.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People \u2013 which provides care and support for children with terminal and life-limiting conditions in Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and across the East Midlands &#8211; has announced EastEnders actress, Rakhee Thakrar, has become its newest Patron.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The 31 year old<span> from Leicester, who plays Shabnam Masood in the award winning BBC One show, visited the hospice earlier this year to meet some of the inspirational children, families and staff. During her visit, she joined in with arts activities took part in a special TV quiz with the young people and even met the Rainbows Choir.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nSpeaking about becoming a Patron, Rakhee said: It\u2019s a huge honour for me to become a Patron for Rainbows. During my visit, when I was asked by the young people if I would consider becoming a Patron, I was incredibly touched and immediately agreed.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>She continued: \u201cMeeting the children and young people was amazing. I never expected a hospice to be so happy, it really is a place where families can make memories. The staff at Rainbows are incredible. It\u2019s amazing how much actually goes on at the hospice and how far the staff go to make things happen. It truly is an inspiring place and I\u2019m delighted to become a Patron.\u201d<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>As a Rainbows Patron, Rakhee will be supporting the hospice in whatever way her schedule allows, which will be invaluable in raising the profile of the charity. She has even offered to show some of the young people around Albert Square, the fictional setting of the famous soap.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Andy Campbell, Chief Executive at Rainbows, said: \u201cIt was wonderful when Rakhee visited <span>us at Rainbows. She brought with her so much positivity and everyone who met her, loved her. To have her on board as our newest patron is very exciting and we are extremely happy she has pledged her support to us.
