Sonia Deol fronts Drive Show as Nikki Bedi leaves the station after six years<\/h3>\n
\"\"SONIA Deol is to front the Drive Show on the BBC Asian Network, replacing current host Nikki Bedi who is leaving the station after six years.<\/strong> <\/div>\n

Sonia, who currently presents a Friday afternoon show on the station, will move to the new weekday slot from Monday 8 February.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The Asian Network also confirmed that weekend breakfast presenter,Tommy Sandhu is to take over the drivetime slot.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cBringing Sonia and Tommy into\u00a0the heart of our daytime schedule gives us one of the most talented and engaging\u00a0presenter line-ups not just on Asian Radio but on all Radio across the UK,\u201d Vijay Sharma, Head of BBC Asian Network said. <\/div>\n

Sonia said she was \u201creally excited\u201d about the new show.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Asian Network audience and I have grown up together, so I\u2019m really excited about my new show,\u201d she said.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s going to be fun, real,\u00a0sometimes cheeky, and \u2018must listen to\u2019 radio, even though starting on my birthday means I’ve had to cancel Akshay Kumar taking me out for the day, but I’d much rather be in the Asian Network studio broadcasting to the nation. Ok, that last bit isn’t strictly true!\u201d<\/div>\n

The changes mean it\u2019s the end of a long road for one presenter, Nikki Bedi, who will leave the station after six years. <\/div>\n

Andy Parfitt, Controller, BBC Asian Network paid tribute to the radio host. <\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cI thank Nikki for her excellent contribution to the station over many years, I\u00a0wish her well for the future\u00a0and will be helping her develop her BBC radio career,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n
