{"id":8606,"date":"2008-04-18T16:29:29","date_gmt":"2008-04-18T16:29:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2008\/04\/18\/record-label-leads-way-against-music-piracy\/"},"modified":"2008-04-18T16:29:29","modified_gmt":"2008-04-18T16:29:29","slug":"record-label-leads-way-against-music-piracy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2008\/04\/18\/record-label-leads-way-against-music-piracy\/","title":{"rendered":"Record label leads way against music piracy"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Gurdas Maan backing new initiative<\/h3>\n<div>&#13;<\/p>\n<div><strong>A MIDLANDS-based record label is leading the fight against music piracy by offering fans the chance to see their favourite stars in return for legally purchasing material.<\/strong> <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>UK Box Office, based in Willenhall, are just one of many record labels across the country who have seen profits hit by the rise of illegal downloading across the internet. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>To tackle the problem the label joined forces with legendary Indian singer Gurdas Maan and offered genuine fans the chance of a lifetime \u2013 purchase an original copy of his latest album \u2018Boot Polishan\u2019 and be entered into a draw to meet the star himself in sunny California. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>A spokesperson for UK Box Office said music fans now needed an incentive to purchase music legally. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cNo matter which way you look at it music piracy is stealing, it is a problem which cannot be eradicated totally\u201d, the spokesperson told The Asian Today. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cWith the support Gurdas Maan\u2019s and also the British Phonographic Industry we want to protect and promote the music industry.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cAs a record label company, our objective is to promote and sell music on behalf of our Artist.\u00a0It is all too easy for individuals to obtain pirate copies of music, at little or no cost. What incentive, is there for them to buy the music?\u00a0This is where the idea of the competition emerged.\u201d<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Music fans who purchased an original copy of the album were automatically entered into the draw. The first prize winner will be treated to an all-expenses paid trip \u2013 flights and accommodation included &#8211; \u00a0to see Gurdas in California later this month, with a further ten lucky winners given a pair of tickets to see the star next year during his highly anticipated tour of the UK.
