{"id":8589,"date":"2008-10-20T15:46:54","date_gmt":"2008-10-20T15:46:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2008\/10\/20\/new-voice-for-radio-leicester\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T15:38:16","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T15:38:16","slug":"new-voice-for-radio-leicester","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2008\/10\/20\/new-voice-for-radio-leicester\/","title":{"rendered":"New voice for Radio Leicester"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Kamlesh Purohit returns to the airwaves<\/h3>\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"281\" hspace=\"10\" width=\"180\" align=\"right\" vspace=\"3\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/KamleshPurohit_180x232.jpg\"\/>ACCLAIMED journalist Kamlesh Purohit will return to the airwaves in Leicester this month for a new show for the city\u2019s Asian community.<\/strong> <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Every Thursday Kamlesh will present a blend of local news, entertaining guests and quality music for the Asian communities.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Launching on BBC Radio Leicester on 23 October the show mixes topical debate with a rich blend of entertainment and lifestyle chat including health, fashion, beauty, food and reviews of the week\u2019s top news stories. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Kamlesh also pays tribute to the show\u2019s 1980\u2019s origins on BBC Radio Leicester offering listeners a healthy dose of weekly nostalgia and some classic Bollywood tracks.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Kamlesh started his eminent broadcasting career on BBC Radio Leicester when he was asked to cover for a colleague packaging video reviews. This led to other on-air opportunities until 1988 when Kam became the regular presenter of the Thursday 6 O\u2019 Clock Show.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cTo be able to relive \u2018the good old days\u2019 again through the new 7 o\u2019clock Show is going to be magical \u2013 I can\u2019t wait to get started,\u201d said Kamlesh.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>He added: \u201cThe show is not all retrospective though. Over the next few weeks listeners can join me as\u00a0I search for the first Asian person in Leicester; contribute to debate about the proposed new temple in Gypsy Lane, discuss\u00a0 cricket and music, and find out all the gossip from Silver Street with my secret Silver Street Spy.\u201d<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Kate Squire, Managing Editor of BBC Radio Leicester says of the new programme: \u201cI am very excited about this latest addition to our schedule. The show is intended to act as a forum which reflects the diversity and vibrancy of the Asian communities in Leicestershire.
