{"id":8489,"date":"2007-02-13T12:32:03","date_gmt":"2007-02-13T12:32:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2007\/02\/13\/two-new-faces-for-hit-asian-radio-drama\/"},"modified":"2007-02-13T12:32:03","modified_gmt":"2007-02-13T12:32:03","slug":"two-new-faces-for-hit-asian-radio-drama","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2007\/02\/13\/two-new-faces-for-hit-asian-radio-drama\/","title":{"rendered":"Two new \u2018faces\u2019 for hit Asian radio drama"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Pooja Shah and Nitin Ganatra Hit Silver Street <\/h3>\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"190\" hspace=\"10\" width=\"238\" align=\"right\" vspace=\"3\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/Image\/ArticleImages\/PoojahNitin%27SilverStreet%27.jpg\"\/>British Asian stars Poojah Shah and Nitin Ganatra are to try their hand at radio after signing up for the BBC\u2019s Asian drama Silver Street.<\/strong> <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Shah, better known for her role as Kareena Ferreira in Eastenders, will make her radio production debut alongside Nitin Ganatra in the BBC Asian Network\u2019s daily soap Silver Street in an adrenaline packed story line involving a siege. \u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nPooja plays Nalini, a young woman who is born and bred in Britain and has been married off to Deepak, played by Nitin, in order to cover up a secret disgrace she has brought on the family. \u00a0Deepak, who has been brought over from India,\u00a0has been treated as little more than a house servant by Nalini\u2019s mother. \u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Nalini and Deepak share a fairly good relationship. She tries to be a bit of a peacemaker between her mother and husband, but it doesn\u2019t always work. \u00a0It\u2019s not long before Nalini faces heartache and trauma when her over-bearing mother pushes Deepak over the edge. Things soon turn ugly leading to a siege at the family home.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nShah, 27, said she was \u201cexcited\u201d about her forthcoming role. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cI am very excited to be cast in Silver Street as this is the first radio production I have been involved with\u201d, she said. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cI feel that this will be a new challenge for me and I&#8217;m looking forward to playing a new character\u201d.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nShe left her regular stint as Albert Square\u2019s Kareena Ferreira back in February 2005.
