Singer and human rights activist Madonna took to\u00a0her Instagram account this week to announce the opening of \u00a0her\u00a0\u2018dream school\u2019 in Karachi which she had pledged to help build last year.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n

\u201cThe Revolution of Love continues in Pakistan! The Dream School is finally finished. 1,200 kids attending. Knowledge is Power! #rayoflight #livingforlove,\u201d read her caption.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cLast year<\/span>, Madonna announced that she is raising money to expand a school in an impoverished area on the outskirts of Karachi, according to a\u00a0press release\u00a0on her official website.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cThe starlet went on stage at a live concert in London and publicised that she is supporting girls\u2019 education in Pakistan through her Ray of Light Foundation, and urged people to support her cause. \u00a0She was joined on stage by Humaira Bachal, an education activist from Karachi.\u201d<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cMadonna has long spoken about her admiration for Humaira Bachal, a Pakistani woman who has campaigned for better education for young girls.\u201d<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Speaking at the Chime For Change event in London last year, Madonna said, \u201cLet\u2019s help Humaira build a bigger school in Pakistan! How \u2018bout this? You build the first floor, I\u2019ll build the rest of the school. Let\u2019s do this together!\u201d<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The Dream Model Street School is located in Mawach Goth, Karachi and was founded by the Dream Foundation Trust (DFT), a Pakistani non-governmental organisation.<\/div>\n

\u00a0<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The school, established in 2005, and claims to have taught over 2,000 students who otherwise would not have had access to education.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to trade something valuable for something invaluable \u2013 educating girls,\u201d she said in a statement.<\/div>\n
