{"id":8190,"date":"2015-03-16T11:05:29","date_gmt":"2015-03-16T11:05:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2015\/03\/16\/luton-man-rescues-vicar\/"},"modified":"2015-03-16T11:05:29","modified_gmt":"2015-03-16T11:05:29","slug":"luton-man-rescues-vicar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2015\/03\/16\/luton-man-rescues-vicar\/","title":{"rendered":"Luton Man Rescues Vicar"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Zulfiqar Afsar Recognised With Bravery Award<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"10\" hspace=\"3\" border=\"1\" align=\"middle\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/Image\/ArticleImages\/luton-man-rescues-vicar-467x184.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p>A man from Luton who rushed to the aid of a vicar pinned beneath a car following a collision is set to be recognised for his bravery with an award at the Houses of Parliament this week.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Zulfiqar Afsar was one of a handful of men who ran to help Reverend Mike Jones, who had been cycling when he was crushed by a car.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>The Reverend, whom doctors described as \u201cthe luckiest man in the country\u201d, was able to avoid any serious injury due to the collision.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Since the incident, Zulfiqar says he has been the recipient of a number of awards as recognition of his involvement in the rescue. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>He said: &#8220;I did not think I would get them and I was not expecting them. I&#8217;m surprised about it. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a Muslim it&#8217;s something I would do regardless of faith.
