{"id":7631,"date":"2015-07-13T15:28:51","date_gmt":"2015-07-13T15:28:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2015\/07\/13\/machete-wielding-robbers\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T14:30:11","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T14:30:11","slug":"machete-wielding-robbers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2015\/07\/13\/machete-wielding-robbers\/","title":{"rendered":"Machete Wielding Robbers"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Jailed for Over 17 Years<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"1\" hspace=\"3\" vspace=\"10\" align=\"middle\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Machete-wielding-robbers-1-458x191.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>A trio of machete wielding robbers, who repeatedly stabbed a Birmingham postmaster in the leg as they tried to steal his takings, have been jailed for over 17 years.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n<span>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Tayyab Ayaz, 20, Ilyas Khan, 18, and 17-year-old Umar Mahmood were sentenced Friday (10 July) after previously admitting carrying out the armed robbery on 27 May.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The postmaster\u2019s ordeal began just after 8.30am when he went to open up Moseley post office on Church Road for the day.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The 67-year-old had just opened the shutters when the three rushed at him, threatening to &#8220;cut him&#8221; if he did not open the post office.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>When he was unable to do so, the men cut him several times to the leg with their machetes, severing a tendon. The postmaster was dragged around the premises and asked to open up the pharmacy until a knock was heard at the door, startling the robbers who went to hide upstairs.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The postmaster seized his opportunity to escape and managed to make his way outside to officers, who had already been alerted to the robbery and were containing the area.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Officers from the force\u2019s dog unit arrived shortly after and, with the help of their canine colleagues, they arrested the robbers inside the premises.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Ayaz, of Brighton Road, Balsall Heath, Khan of Kingswood Road, Moseley, and Mahmood pleaded guilty to robbery and possession of the knife on 11 June.
