Students from Cadbury Sixth Form College bring a musical theatre classic to the stage in May 2015 with their adaptation of Sweet Charity.\u00a0<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Their performance of this all-singing and all-dancing production will take the audience back to 1960s New York to witness the adventures of the Fandango Ballroom.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Eleven BTEC Performing Arts First Year Students have spent their studies so far planning and rehearsing their version of the show, with main roles being double cast to provide more students with the chance to share the limelight. <\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Charity Valentine, the star taxi dancer with a heart tattoo on her left arm, is played by Eleanor Moldrik in Act One, and by Amber Morgan in Acto Two.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Perfomer Eleanor, who is also studying a BTEC in Health and Social Care with Child Psychology and an A-Level in Mathematics at Cadbury College, said: \u201cI have really enjoyed playing the part of Charity Valentine. She is an amazing character who experiences many different emotions. I have found it really exciting to be part of the Musical as I love the songs in the show. I feel they really express Charity\u2019s character, both her sad moments and her happy moments. The course has been really enjoyable and I have had the opportunity to sing and dance as well as act in shows.\u201d<\/div>\n

Her co-star Amber Morgan, who is also studying a BTEC in Health and Social Care with Child Psychology and an A-Level in Sociology, said:<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cI find the script really funny; it\u2019s great to work with. I knew some of the songs before I started to rehearse this show so it\u2019s been amazing to sing these. I enjoy studying Drama at Cadbury and I\u2019m excited about performing in the lead role in a public performance.\u201d<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Show Director, Drama & Theatre Studies teacher Ravinder Jhite, commented:\u201cThe students have worked extremely hard to put this show together, attending rehearsals in their free time and in the Easter holidays. They are very excited about this opportunity to take part in a public performance of such a famous musical.\u201d<\/div>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/div>\n

The show, which promises to be a hit spectacle this academic year, features hit musical numbers including \u201cBig Spender\u201d and \u201cThere\u2019s Gotta Be Something Better Than This\u201d, sung and performed by the students themselves.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The BTEC Performing Arts course at Cadbury College is a practical study programme in which students develop the singing, acting and dancing skills needed to be successful in the competitive performing arts industry.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Students across the different Drama courses, both BTEC Performing Arts and A-Level Drama & Theatre Studies are participating in a range on shows this Summer including an A-Level Showcase on Thursday 7th<\/sup> May featuring a series of contemporary monologues and scenes from Macbeth and A Taste of Honey. The second year BTEC show this year will be an outstanding adaptation of Bertolt Brecht\u2019s The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, which will take place at the College on Wednesday 20th<\/sup> May at 6pm<\/div>\n
