{"id":7442,"date":"2015-04-08T15:53:11","date_gmt":"2015-04-08T15:53:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2015\/04\/08\/dudley-man-jailed-on-terrorism-charge\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T14:23:28","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T14:23:28","slug":"dudley-man-jailed-on-terrorism-charge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2015\/04\/08\/dudley-man-jailed-on-terrorism-charge\/","title":{"rendered":"Dudley Man Jailed On Terrorism Charge"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Usman Choudhary sent hundreds of letters and gifts to convicted terrorists<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"10\" hspace=\"3\" border=\"1\" align=\"middle\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/dudley-man-join-the-caravan-467x184.jpg\"\/><em> <\/em>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>A man from the West Midlands accused of sending letters as well as gifts to convicted terrorists has been sentenced to nine months behind bars.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Usman Hussain Choudhary, of Terry Street in Dudley, was arrested following a police raid at his home.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"10\" hspace=\"10\" border=\"1\" align=\"right\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/dudley-man-join-the-caravan-200x250.jpg\"\/>A variety of extremist literature was found by officers in Usman&#8217;s home alongside records of hundreds of letters and small gifts which had been sent to prisoners.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>The 33-year-old was arrested after a publication of Join The Caravan, which was en route to a prisoner, was discovered at Swaleside Prison in Kent.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>West Midlands Police said the extremist publication was intercepted by prison staff before it reached its intended recipient.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Usman pleaded guilty at Kingston Crown Court to distributing terrorist material.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Det Ch Supt Sue Southern, head of the force&#8217;s Counter Terrorism Unit, said: &#8220;Police and prison officials are alive to the risks of radicalisation of inmates and are working together to tackle the issue.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This was a dangerous publication to send into a prison and we are grateful to the Swaleside staff for their vigilance and prompt call to police.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n<em> <\/em>&#13;\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Usman Choudhary sent hundreds of letters and gifts to convicted terrorists &#13; A man from the West Midlands accused of sending letters as well as gifts to convicted terrorists has been sentenced to nine months behind bars. &#13; Usman Hussain Choudhary, of Terry Street in Dudley, was arrested following a police raid at his home.
