Murder Investigation After Body Found <\/h3>\n

West Midlands Police has launched a murder enquiry after a man who went missing before Christmas was found dead at an address in Sandwell on New Year\u2019s morning.<\/div>\n

Baljit Singh, a 50-year-old from Meadow Road in Harborne, was last seen on 23 December when he left his home to collect a birthday cake for his son.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/div>\n

He failed to arrive and the alarm was raised later that day\u2026but at around 9am this morning officers probing his disappearance uncovered his body in the basement of an address in Beeches Road, Rowley Regis.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

A 32-year-old man and 27-year-old woman arrested on New Year\u2019s Eve in connection with Mr Singh\u2019s disappearance are now being questioned by detectives on suspicion of his murder.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The pair\u00a0were arrested by West Midlands Police officers from an address in Kingswinford initially on suspicion of stealing the 50-year-old\u2019s Range Rover.<\/div>\n

\u00a0<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Detective Inspector Warren Hines, said: \u201cWe believe Mr Singh disappeared from Smethwick High Street in early- to mid-afternoon on the 23rd of December \u2013 and that he\u2019d had a drink in the Red Cow pub there before leaving in his grey 58-plate Range Rover.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d really like to speak to anyone who was in Smethwick High Street between 1pm and 4pm on December 23rd\u00a0and may have seen Mr Singh or his vehicle \u2013 any information they can provide could help progress the investigation.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cDid anyone see him or talk to him in the Red Cow pub\u2026did anyone see him with other people? Mr Singh was a short man, around 5ft 3ins tall with black hair and was wearing a pink shirt with white stripes at the time.\u201d<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Two other people arrested on suspicion of car theft \u2013 a 28-year-old man and 23-year-old woman from Kingswinford \u2013 have both been released on police bail pending further enquiries.<\/div>\n
