{"id":6942,"date":"2014-10-15T15:52:43","date_gmt":"2014-10-15T15:52:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/10\/15\/muslim-school-seeks-residence\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T13:57:58","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T13:57:58","slug":"muslim-school-seeks-residence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2014\/10\/15\/muslim-school-seeks-residence\/","title":{"rendered":"Muslim School Seeks Residence"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>The School Was Denied A Request To Change The Building&#8217;s Use<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"467\" vspace=\"10\" hspace=\"3\" height=\"184\" border=\"1\" align=\"middle\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/CovMuslimSchoolSeeksResidence-467x184.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p><font><font size=\"3\">A Muslim school in Coventry must find new residence or be forced to close down after a rejected application by the city council\u2019s planning chiefs.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p><font><font size=\"3\">Members of the planning committee refused a request for a mid-terraced home in Queen Marys Road, Foleshill which was being used as a school in evenings from Monday to Friday.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p><font><font size=\"3\">The school wanted to change the use of the building as well as add an extension, but were turned down by planning officers who claimed their request would cause,  \u201csignificant harm to the amenities of neighbouring residents via visual intrusion\u201d, and \u201cincreased competition for on-street parking spaces on an already heavily parked road\u201d.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p><font><font size=\"3\">A spokesperson for the Coventry City Council said they would try to arrange a new accommodation site for them.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p><font><font size=\"3\">The school however has been backed by three of Foleshill\u2019s ward councillors; Councillors Abdul Khan, Tariq Khan and Malkiat Singh Auluck. Councillor Abdul Khan stated that the applicant had \u201cdone a great deal of work for the local community\u201d, according to the planning officers\u2019 report.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p><font><font size=\"3\">Councillor Tariq Khan emphasised the benefits of the school such as helping to eliminate anti-social behaviour.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p><font><font size=\"3\">The public have supported the plans for the school as it would be in a close location which would erase the need to drive further away.
