With their production of Blue Beard<\/em> currently on tour, Wise Children<\/strong> announced the full cast for the world premi\u00e8re of Hanif Kureishi\u2019s The Buddha of Suburbia<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 adapted by the company\u2019s Artistic Director Emma Rice<\/strong>, with Kureishi. The production runs at the Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon<\/strong> in a co-production with the Royal Shakespeare Company<\/strong> (RSC) as part of Daniel Evans<\/strong> and Tamara Harvey\u2019s<\/strong> inaugural season as Co-Artistic Directors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rice directs Dee Ahluwalia, Ankur Bahl, Raj Bajaj, Tommy Belshaw, Rina Fatania, Natasha Jayetileke, Bettrys Jones, Simon Rivers, Lucy Thackeray<\/strong> and Ewan Wardrop<\/strong>. The production opens on 30 April<\/strong>, with previews from 18 April<\/strong>, and runs until 1 June.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emma Rice, Artistic Director of Wise Children<\/strong> said, \u201cI’m honoured and excited to be part of Tamara and Daniel’s inaugural season as Co-Artistic Directors at the RSC. It\u2019s magic to be returning to The Swan stage – and in such a thrilling way! There\u2019ll be no iambic pentameter here, oh no! Expect party poppers, lawn mowers, bean bags and balloons!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHanif Kureishi\u2019s debut novel The Buddha of Suburbia is a messy, joyful, and angry love letter to family, theatre and music. Funny and tender in equal measure, this landmark story fizzes with rebellion, confusion, love and acceptance.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
