Cricket Club Benefits from Police Fund<\/h3>\n

It has been a winter to forget for cricket fans following a dismal whitewash in the Ashes and defeat to a part-time Netherlands team in the Word Twenty20 competition, but officers from\u00a0Solihull Police<\/a>\u00a0are hopeful they can give a much needed boost to local cricket.<\/div>\n

Solihull\u2019s Old Edwardians Cricket Club has become the latest community group to benefit from a police fund which has seen over \u00a31 million ploughed back into communities across the force.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Officers from the\u00a0Olton and Silhill neighbourhood policing team<\/a>\u00a0were delighted to hand over \u00a3850 to the Streetsbrook Road club, which has been used to purchase new practise nets\u00a0for the club\u2019s youth teams.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Commenting on the donation, Sergeant Paul O\u2019Reilly, said: “It is a pleasure for officers to be able to help out a club that is so steeped in local history, hopefully this will continue for another 120 years!<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

“We\u2019re hoping that practise will make perfect for the young cricketers and their upcoming season is a successful one. But win or lose we\u2019re confident that the club\u2019s under 13, 14 and 15 teams will be great ambassadors for our community.”<\/div>\n
