{"id":6485,"date":"2014-03-13T12:49:18","date_gmt":"2014-03-13T12:49:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/03\/13\/ex-police-officer-jailed-for-stealing-police-documents\/"},"modified":"2014-03-13T12:49:18","modified_gmt":"2014-03-13T12:49:18","slug":"ex-police-officer-jailed-for-stealing-police-documents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2014\/03\/13\/ex-police-officer-jailed-for-stealing-police-documents\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex Police Officer Jailed for Stealing Police Documents"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Sugra Hanif Jailed for Three and a Half Years<\/h3>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"1\" hspace=\"3\" alt=\"\" vspace=\"10\" align=\"middle\" width=\"570\" height=\"225\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/Image\/ArticleImages\/sugra-hanif-570x225.jpg\"\/><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div\/>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>An ex Police Officer and her lover have been sentenced and jailed after being found guilty of stealing the details of thousands of accident victims and selling them to solicitor\u2019s firms. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Sugra Hanif, 27, a former Police Constable with Thames Valley Police was jailed alongside Raza Khan, 27, at Winchester Crown Court after being found guilty of conspiracy to commit misconduct in a public office by a jury. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Hanif was given a three and a half year sentence whilst Raza, who is from Handsworth, was given a three year sentence. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The 27-year-old, from Banbury, gained accessed to the details from the Thames Valley Police command and control computer which held details of members of the public who were involved in traffic residents. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Prosecutor Peter Asteris said, \u201cHanif and Khan set up case management companies to sell the information to firms of solicitors who would pay them a referral fee for each case that led to a successful compensation claim. Each referral fee was worth between \u00a3600 and \u00a3800 and they gained a total of \u00a326,400 from the 2,456 cases details Hanif stole during the 11-month conspiracy.\u201d <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Also on trial was Raza Khan\u2019s wife, Paramjeet Kaur who was charged with the same offence; however the jury failed to reach a verdict in her case. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cHanif claimed she was forced under duress from Khan to steal the data, while Khan and Kaur claimed they did not know the data was illegal.\u201d <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Head of Professional Standards, Detective Chief Superintendent Tim De Meyer said, \u201cLast week, Sugra Hanif was dismissed from Thames Valley Police following a misconduct hearing. The dismissal related to the recent finding of guilt at Winchester Crown Court for misconduct in a public office.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>&#8220;This was a serious case of corruption and it is right that she was dismissed from the force. The thorough investigation of her crime shows how seriously Thames Valley Police takes these matters.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>&#8220;It is vital that people have complete trust in Thames Valley Police and its officers.
