{"id":6481,"date":"2014-03-07T15:26:25","date_gmt":"2014-03-07T15:26:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/03\/07\/bollywood-course-to-launch-at-college\/"},"modified":"2014-03-07T15:26:25","modified_gmt":"2014-03-07T15:26:25","slug":"bollywood-course-to-launch-at-college","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2014\/03\/07\/bollywood-course-to-launch-at-college\/","title":{"rendered":"Bollywood Course to Launch at College"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>South and City College to Launch Course<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"1\" hspace=\"3\" vspace=\"10\" align=\"middle\" width=\"570\" height=\"225\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/Image\/ArticleImages\/bollywood-570x225.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>A Bollywood course will soon be launching at a Birmingham college which is being seen as the first of its kind. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Potential students will be able to \u201clearn the secrets of the fast-growing trade\u201d at South and City College in Birmingham and will be \u201cput through their paces in dance, acting and singing \u2013 even taking inspiration from the Bard William Shakespeare.\u201d <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The course will involve a mixture of traditional Indian dancing, acting out as characters from novels by Shakespeare and \u201clearn stage combat in a bid to master control of their movements.\u201d <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Students will also have the opportunity to showcase their talents at various stages throughout the UK. The course will be taught in both English and in Hindi and is run by The Bollywood Academy based in Digbeth.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Founder Faraz Chouhan, who famously choreographed Boxer Amir Khan\u2019s wedding routine, said, \u201cThis is a great breakthrough and achievement for my home city of Birmingham, as it will be the first city in the UK and Europe to offer an accredited course in Bollywood Performing arts.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cThese courses will not only help students to obtain a qualification but also helps students build their self confidence and self esteem through performing arts and pursue a career in the entertainment industry.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cWith Bollywood movies being screened at mainstream cinemas and weekly Bollywood events taking place across UK and Europe, there is so much opportunity for these youngsters but there are no recognised accredited courses available, hence the need to encourage students to follow their dreams and obtain a qualification in the course and a career they enjoy doing.\u201d<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The course is opened to youngsters aged 16 to 18 and will run for 10 weeks.
