Johar is celebrating his 25<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary in Indian cinema this year.<\/p>\n<p>The private event was hosted by <strong>Baroness Verma of Leicester<\/strong> with additional members of Parliament in attendance including <strong>Lord Desai, Baroness Uddin<\/strong> and <strong>Rt Hon Tanmanjeet Singh Desi MP <\/strong>as well as British Asian trailblazers, influencers and community leaders.<\/p>\n<p>Johar has a special relationship with the United Kingdom having filmed many of his productions such\u00a0<em>as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham,<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Ae Dil Hai Mushkil<\/em>\u00a0across the country. In 2012, he was appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador for Visit Britain for a special campaign to attract and invite people to visit and explore the country.<\/p>\n<p>His blockbuster movies\u00a0<em>Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>My Name Is Khan<\/em>\u00a0became the highest grossing Indian films at the UK Box Office upon their respective theatrical releases, setting new records.<\/p>\n<p>He currently heads <strong>Dharma Productions<\/strong>, one of India&#8217;s top film production studios, behind films such as <em>Brahmastra Part One: Shiva<\/em>, <em>Sooryavanshi<\/em>, <em>Baahubhali<\/em>, <em>Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani,<\/em> and <em>Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>This year marks his 25th anniversary working in the global entertainment industry, which will be celebrated with his next film starring British India-born actress Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, titled\u00a0<strong><em>Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani<\/em><\/strong>, releasing in UK cinemas and globally this summer on 28<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0July 2023.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>India&#8217;s most notable filmmaker, Karan Johar, was honoured on 20th June, at the British Parliament for his invaluable contribution to the global entertainment industry.
