A mother from Bradford has tried to sell her \u201cbeautiful\u201d baby boy for a price tag of \u00a3150,000. Police and Social services had swooped in after the advert was spotted by Gumtree users in the classifieds section. <\/div>\n

The 20 year old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said that it was all a \u201csilly joke\u201d and that she had been dared to put it up by friends. She also said that she had been \u201cleft devastated that her two sons had been taken away.\u201d<\/div>\n

\u201cIt was very stupid and I shouldn\u2019t have done it, but I didn\u2019t think it would be taken seriously. I love my boys and they make me so happy and I want them to be happy. It was just a silly, silly joke.\u201d<\/div>\n

She added: \u201cI was crying and begging at this one social worker\u2019s feet but she just took my son away. I am so upset and just want my boys back. It is my mistake, my stupidity. It should be me who is locked up, not the boys having to live with strangers.<\/div>\n

\u201cI am so sorry. I have not even been allowed to speak to them on the phone and I don\u2019t know when I\u2019ll see them again. I hope it is soon and they can come back to me.\u201d<\/div>\n

The post, originally read, \u201cBaby, beautiful for sale, deposit through pay pal email only\u201d had been altered to \u201cbaby boy for sale. Comes with everything included. Deposit needed as sick of time wasters.\u201d<\/div>\n

Detective Inspector Vanessa Smith, from West Yorkshire Police, said: \u201cThe child concerned, who is both fit and well, is being looked after in conjunction with relatives and social services. The mother is receiving appropriate care.\u201d<\/div>\n

While Julie Jenkins, assistant director of children\u2019s specialist services at Bradford council, said: \u201cWe worked with the police to establish the safety of the child and we have made sure the child and the family have appropriate support.\u201d<\/div>\n
