A dad-of-four and community figure from Handsworth Sheikh Hameed, 62, died on December 27 after failing to recover from Covid.<\/p>\n
Mr Hameed worked in insurance, was a member of the Labour party and was hugely well-known in the area.<\/p>\n
His daughter Sana Hameed, 33, told BirminghamLive: “He was very kind-hearted. He was always willing to help others, they all came to him for advice.<\/p>\n
“He was a really nice family man – dedicated. Young, old, they all loved him.<\/p>\n
“He used to attend Labour party meetings. He played badminton every single week since the 1980s – he was an all-rounder.”<\/p>\n
Miss Hameed said her dad and mum Riffat Hameed, also 62., had been married for 40-years.<\/p>\n
She added: “People are saying they cannot believe it. He was always on hand to help day and night. He actually took the time to talk.”<\/p>\n
People have taken to social media to pay tribute to Mr Hameed.<\/p>\n
Radley Russell posted on Facebook: “Keeping you all in my prayers.”<\/p>\n
Nasir Ahmad said: “Shocking news. May Allah SWT bless him. He was a lovely chap and had a really wonderful sense of humour. He will be missed.”<\/p>\n
Mohammed Zahid posted: “My most sincere condolences to both you and all your nearest and dearest. I am deeply saddened to hear this news.”<\/p>\n
