{"id":5671,"date":"2011-11-15T11:57:19","date_gmt":"2011-11-15T11:57:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2011\/11\/15\/birmingham-design-students-dream-of-gold-comes-true\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T13:24:04","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T13:24:04","slug":"birmingham-design-students-dream-of-gold-comes-true","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2011\/11\/15\/birmingham-design-students-dream-of-gold-comes-true\/","title":{"rendered":"Birmingham Design Student\u2019s Dream of Gold comes true"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Saiman Miahreveals inspiration for official London 2012 Olympic coin design<\/h3>\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" vspace=\"3\" align=\"middle\" width=\"460\" height=\"259\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/SaimanMiahOlympiccoin_460x225.jpg\"\/><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div><strong\/><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div><strong\/><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div><strong>A LOCAL architecture student from Moseley in South Birmingham has had the honour\u00a0of designing the official UK Coin to celebrate the London 2012 Olympic\u00a0and Paralympic Games.<\/strong>\u00a0 <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Saiman Miah won a prestigious competition to create the design for the official London 2012 Olympic coin \u2013 which will soon be in the hands of Games enthusiasts around the world, ahead of next summer\u2019s Games. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Since the Helsinki summer Olympic Games in 1952 it has been tradition for commemorative coins to be struck in celebration of the Games.\u00a0 <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Now 24-year-old Saiman Miah joins the artistic elite by creating the new \u00a35 coin design which will be a permanent and much-treasured memento of London 2012. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Inspired by his love architecture, Saiman\u2019s design for the official London 2012 Olympic coin captures a snapshot of the London skyline including the London Eye, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and St Paul\u2019s cathedral; which act as a backdrop for the iconic River Thames.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cAs an architecture student I wanted to include a detailed impression of London\u2019s iconic skyline on my design,\u201d says Saiman. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cThe pictograms of Olympic athletes placed around the edge is like a clock face,\u201d he explains, \u201cand a reference to another London icon, Big Ben.
