{"id":5666,"date":"2011-11-10T14:54:00","date_gmt":"2011-11-10T14:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2011\/11\/10\/jailed-drug-dealer-could-be-120000-out-of-pocket\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T13:23:56","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T13:23:56","slug":"jailed-drug-dealer-could-be-120000-out-of-pocket","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2011\/11\/10\/jailed-drug-dealer-could-be-120000-out-of-pocket\/","title":{"rendered":"Jailed Drug dealer could be \u00a3120,000 out of pocket"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Birmingham man Hemant Patel jailed for six years for drug offences<\/h3>\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" hspace=\"10\" vspace=\"3\" align=\"right\" width=\"180\" height=\"266\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/HemantPatel_180x232.jpg\"\/>A DRUG dealer faces having \u00a3120,000 seized by police after he was jailed for six years for drug offences.<\/strong> <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Hemant Patel, from Handsworth, was found guilty at Birmingham Crown Court of five counts of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply and one count of possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>There will now be Proceeds of Crime (POCA) hearing to deal with over \u00a3120,000 worth of assets which were seized by police during their investigation.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Patel was arrested in July 2010 following a search warrant which was executed at an address in Woodstock Road, Handsworth. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Found at the address was \u00a32450 of heroin, \u00a31250 of crack cocaine and \u00a3900 of benzocaine a pharmaceutical drug used as a bulking agent for cocaine and heroin. There is no recognised legal use for benzocaine in non prepared formats. \u00a311,000 in cash was also seized. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Following investigations, a further \u00a3120,000 of assets was discovered and a POCA Restraint Order was sought for and obtained at Birmingham Crown Court. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Police executed a further search warrant at the address in November 2010 and this time recovered \u00a31300 of crack cocaine, \u00a31300 of heroin and 1270 millilitres of methadone, a quantity of cannabis along with a further \u00a33000 in cash. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Patel was arrested and again and was charged with 5 counts of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply and 1 count of possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>DCI Simon Wallis from Force CID said: &#8220;We welcome this result- the case came to trial at Birmingham Crown Court and the jury took one hour to convict him on all six counts and Patel was sentenced.
