{"id":5482,"date":"2011-09-07T12:25:58","date_gmt":"2011-09-07T12:25:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2011\/09\/07\/lights-camera-action-for-dhafer\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T13:09:09","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T13:09:09","slug":"lights-camera-action-for-dhafer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2011\/09\/07\/lights-camera-action-for-dhafer\/","title":{"rendered":"Lights, Camera, Action for Dhafer"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Acting Graduate lands role in medical drama Casualty<\/h3>\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"3\" align=\"middle\" width=\"460\" height=\"248\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Casualty_460x225.jpg\"\/><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div><strong\/><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div><strong\/><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div><strong>A GRADUATE from Birmingham City University\u2019s School of Acting, has landed a major role in the BBC&#8217;s Saturday night drama.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Dhafer L\u2019Abidine graduated from the University in 2002 and since then has starred in a string of high profile roles including parts in Sex and the City 2, Spooks, Wallander and the upcoming Sky drama Strike Back. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Dhafer will be starring in the latest series of Casualty as paramedic Omar who, because of cultural differences, brings manners and ways of doing things that are different from the way people are used to.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Speaking about his new role, Tunisian-born Dhafer said: \u201cI\u2019m foreign myself and I find it interesting that when you arrive in a new country you have your experiences of your own country but everything here works differently \u2013 work, relationships, friends \u2013 and you have to try to adapt and change. Or maybe you can\u2019t change. And that\u2019s one of the reasons I thought Omar would be interesting to play\u201d.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Dhafer has been researching his role\u00a0by\u00a0asking paramedics a lot of questions and says he thinks he\u00a0would be good in an emergency now&#8230; &#8220;at least as long as the cameras are around and someone says &#8216;cut&#8217;!&#8221;<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Dhafer, who was previously a professional footballer in Tunisia, first arrived in Britain to learn English in 1999 and admits he could\u00a0never have imagined how far his career would develop when he came to\u00a0Birmingham to study acting.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0\u201cI\u2019ve been so lucky with my career. It\u2019s not something you can plan I don\u2019t think.\u00a0 I\u2019m lucky to have played such a wide range of characters and different nationalities. And now it\u2019s lovely to be playing a paramedic.
