{"id":5373,"date":"2011-07-08T17:26:22","date_gmt":"2011-07-08T17:26:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2011\/07\/08\/council-is-key-to-new-home-for-birmingham-family\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T13:05:57","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T13:05:57","slug":"council-is-key-to-new-home-for-birmingham-family","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2011\/07\/08\/council-is-key-to-new-home-for-birmingham-family\/","title":{"rendered":"Council is Key to new home for Birmingham family"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Abdo Radman and son, Raad, first tenants to move into new home<\/h3>\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"3\" align=\"middle\" width=\"460\" height=\"248\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/AbdoRadman_460x225.jpg\"\/><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div><strong\/><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div><strong\/><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div><strong>A BIRMINGHAM father has been handed the keys to a brand new home \u2013 thanks to Sandwell Council.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Abdo Radman and young son Raad are the first tenants to move into newly built council home built in Sandwell for several years. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The 12 houses and 16 two-bedroom apartments are on the site of the former Bearwood House flats in Bearwood Road, Smethwick.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The \u00a32.75 million project has been built for Sandwell Council by Lovell, and part-funded to the tune of \u00a31.37 million by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Mr Radman\u2019s new home was built to specific disability standards to help meet the needs of his disabled son, Raad.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>&#8220;Our home is really nice and all the people who have helped us are lovely and friendly,\u201d he said. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cWe&#8217;re very happy here because our home has space for my son&#8217;s electric wheelchair.&#8221;<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Sandwell Council leader, Councillor Darren Cooper, said it was great to see people moving into new council homes.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>&#8220;These are the first new council homes to be built in Sandwell for some years and I&#8217;m really pleased to see people now moving in,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>&#8220;It&#8217;s also good to work with Sandwell residents like Mr Radman to meet their needs.
