{"id":5306,"date":"2011-07-05T12:09:02","date_gmt":"2011-07-05T12:09:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2011\/07\/05\/murder-and-rape-suspect-arrested-in-india\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T13:02:06","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T13:02:06","slug":"murder-and-rape-suspect-arrested-in-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2011\/07\/05\/murder-and-rape-suspect-arrested-in-india\/","title":{"rendered":"Murder and Rape suspect arrested in India"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Man held in connection with murder and rape of Michelle Samaraweera<\/h3>\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"3\" align=\"middle\" width=\"460\" height=\"249\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/MichelleSamaraweera_460x225.jpg\"\/><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div><strong\/><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div><strong\/><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div><strong>POLICE in India have arrested a man in connection with the murder and rape of a London woman in 2009.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The 26-year-old man was held by Indian police at New Delhi airport. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>He is wanted by police in London in connection with the murder and rape of Michelle Samaraweera. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The 35-year-old was strangled and raped as she returned to her boyfriend&#8217;s address in Walthamstow, east London, after stopping by at a Somerfield supermarket on 30 May 2009.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Her body was found in nearby park.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>As police launched a murder investigation they found her killer was linked through DNA to three other sexual assaults in the area.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The first occurred on 24 March when a 59-year-old woman was raped in her home.
