{"id":4882,"date":"2010-09-02T13:28:26","date_gmt":"2010-09-02T13:28:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2010\/09\/02\/honour-killing-parents-re-arrested-by-police\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T12:46:50","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T12:46:50","slug":"honour-killing-parents-re-arrested-by-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2010\/09\/02\/honour-killing-parents-re-arrested-by-police\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Honour killing parents&#8217; re-arrested by police"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Detectives continue investigation into murder of Shafilea Ahmed<\/h3>\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" hspace=\"10\" vspace=\"3\" align=\"right\" width=\"180\" height=\"277\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/ShafileaAhmed_180x232.jpg\"\/>THE parents of suspected honour killing victim Shafilea Ahmed have been re-arrested in connection with her murder.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The 17-year-old disappeared from her home in Warrington, Cheshire, in October 2003, sparking a major police search.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Her decomposed remains were discovered in Cumbria five months later.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Shafilea&#8217;s father Iftikhar, 50, and mother Faranza, 47, were initially arrested on suspicion of kidnapping in 2004 but the Crown Prosecution Service had insufficient evidence.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The arrest comes just days after another of their daughters was arrested on suspicion of masterminding an armed robbery at the family home.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>College student Shafilea was reported missing in September 2003 by a teacher at Great Sankey High School where she studied. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Police investigations into her disappearance found Shafilea had travelled to Pakistan where she rejected an arranged marriage partner.
