{"id":4794,"date":"2010-08-02T11:32:44","date_gmt":"2010-08-02T11:32:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2010\/08\/02\/tribute-to-teenager-following-fatal-collision\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T12:44:07","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T12:44:07","slug":"tribute-to-teenager-following-fatal-collision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2010\/08\/02\/tribute-to-teenager-following-fatal-collision\/","title":{"rendered":"Tribute to teenager following fatal collision"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Waqar was a \u201cconsiderate young man\u201d, say family<\/h3>\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" hspace=\"10\" vspace=\"3\" align=\"right\" width=\"180\" height=\"262\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/WaqarAlyas_180x232.jpg\"\/>THE family of the teenager who died following a collision in Ashton have paid tribute. <\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Waqar Alyas, 17, from Oldham, died after the collision on Springwood Way in Ashton at about 1.50am on Friday 30 July 2010. <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nHis brother Zahid paid the following tribute on behalf of the family: &#8220;Waqar was a very intelligent, kind and considerate young man. <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n&#8220;He was about to study his A-levels and had ambitions to be a dentist. He was very focused and ambitious. <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n&#8220;He was a keen footballer and was a Liverpool fan. <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n&#8220;He was very close to his family he will be missed by us and friends. His brothers will miss him.&#8221;<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nAt 1.45am on Friday 30 July 2010, a police officer was on routine patrol on Ashton Road, Oldham when he attempted to stop a speeding Ford Focus that was being driven without its lights on. <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nAs the car tried to turn from Oldham Road in Ashton into Springwood Way, it collided with a tree. <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nPolice took Waqar out of the car as it was smoking.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Waqar was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
