{"id":4572,"date":"2010-03-10T15:30:07","date_gmt":"2010-03-10T15:30:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2010\/03\/10\/pakistan-aid-worker-in-city-climate-change-visit\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T12:33:54","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T12:33:54","slug":"pakistan-aid-worker-in-city-climate-change-visit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2010\/03\/10\/pakistan-aid-worker-in-city-climate-change-visit\/","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan Aid worker in city climate change visit"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Oxfam\u2019s Arbab Shakar to raise awareness of climate change in Pakistan<\/h3>\n<div><strong>AN Oxfam air worker from Pakistan is to visit Birmingham to raise awareness of the impact of climate change in Pakistan.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Arbab Shakar hopes to raise awareness of the issue saying it is not widely known amongst Pakistani communities living in Britain.\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u201cI would like the people of Birmingham to know that their support can go a long way to improving the lives of people in poor countries,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Mr Shakar specialises in Disaster Risk Reduction, working with communities who are vulnerable to droughts, floods and cyclones. He also works to prepare villages and towns for future disasters to limit the damage done. <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nWhile in Birmingham he will be visiting the Parkhill School, which has a large Pakistani community.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Climate change campaigner Sophie Ireland organised Mr Shakar\u2019s visit.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>She said: \u201cThe school trip is ideal for getting Shakar\u2019s message out there. He\u2019ll tell the kids, they\u2019ll tell their parents who will in turn tell their families.
