{"id":4485,"date":"2010-02-11T17:42:33","date_gmt":"2010-02-11T17:42:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2010\/02\/11\/takeaway-killer-jailed\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T12:29:52","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T12:29:52","slug":"takeaway-killer-jailed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2010\/02\/11\/takeaway-killer-jailed\/","title":{"rendered":"Takeaway killer jailed"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Family pay tribute to 2004 murder victim Kalvinder \u2018Bob\u2019 Singh<\/h3>\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" hspace=\"10\" vspace=\"3\" align=\"right\" width=\"235\" height=\"210\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/KulvinderSingh_232x180.jpg\"\/>THE family of a Manchester man beaten to death outside a takeway in 2004 have paid tribute to him after a second man was jailed today for his murder.<\/strong> <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Kalvinder Singh, 31 known as \u2018Bob\u2019 to family and friends, died in April 2004 after he was savagely beaten by a group of men at a takeaway in Cheetham Hill, Manchester. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The father-of-two suffered terrible injuries in the attack and died over two weeks later at North Manchester General Hospital. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Today Emirjan Hysaj, 34, who fled the country after the attack, was jailed for life for murder and was told he would serve a minimum of 16 years before being considered for parole. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>He was extradited from Italy under a European arrest warrant in February 2009. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Another man, Marjan Semaj, 27, was jailed for life in 2005 for Mr Singh\u2019s murder. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Today My Singh\u2019s daughter, Tina, who was just nine-years-old when her father was brutally murdered, paid tribute to him. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cMy dad, Bob Singh, was a kind, caring and funny man. He was a brilliant dad, loving husband, a kind brother, a wonderful son and a best friend to all who knew him,\u201d she said. <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u201cEven though he is not alive, his memory lives on through all of the people whose lives he touched.\u201d<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Manchester Crown Court was told how Mr Singh and a group of friends were attacked at the Burning Balti takeaway restaurant on Cheetham Hill Road in the early hours of April 9 2004. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Mr Singh was knocked to the ground and subjected to a brutal attack in which he was repeatedly hit in the head with a plank of wood and had his head stamped on. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Two other friends, Andrew Smith and Wayne Sykes, were also viciously attacked.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The court was told Mr Singh was rushed to North Manchester General Hospital suffering from head injuries, and a fractured skull and cheekbones.
