{"id":4344,"date":"2009-12-11T15:19:30","date_gmt":"2009-12-11T15:19:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2009\/12\/11\/tots-monitored-for-signs-of-islamic-brainwashing\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T12:07:10","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T12:07:10","slug":"tots-monitored-for-signs-of-islamic-brainwashing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2009\/12\/11\/tots-monitored-for-signs-of-islamic-brainwashing\/","title":{"rendered":"Tots monitored for signs of \u2018Islamic brainwashing\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Newspaper publishes leaked memo from West Midlands counter-terrorism unit<\/h3>\n<div><strong>CHILDREN as young as four are being monitored for signs of brainwashing by Islamic extremists, it has been revealed.<\/strong> <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>A leaked memo from West Midlands Police suggested there was \u201cevidence\u201d that \u201cradicalisation can take place from the age of 4,\u201d The Times newspaper reported today. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The revelation comes amidst growing criticism over the Government\u2019s anti-extremism strategy, Prevent, which many claim encourages the public to spy on Muslims. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>In an e-mail to community groups, an officer in the West Midlands counter-terrorism unit wrote: \u201cI do hope that you will tell me about persons, of whatever age, you think may have been radicalised or be vulnerable to radicalisation &#8230; Evidence suggests that radicalisation can take place from the age of 4.\u201d<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The police unit confirmed to the Times that counter-terrorist officers specially trained in identifying children and young people vulnerable to radicalisation had visited nursery schools.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>But the move has been widely condemned.
