{"id":4017,"date":"2009-08-10T16:05:16","date_gmt":"2009-08-10T16:05:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2009\/08\/10\/thanks-gordon\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T11:39:42","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T11:39:42","slug":"thanks-gordon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2009\/08\/10\/thanks-gordon\/","title":{"rendered":"Thanks Gordon!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Two years on from \u2018Kitchen Nightmare\u2019, Midlands Curry Lounge is a hit!<\/h3>\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" hspace=\"10\" vspace=\"3\" align=\"right\" width=\"232\" height=\"214\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/RamseyRazak_232x180.jpg\"\/>A MIDLANDS curry house which was saved from closure by Gordon Ramsey is celebrating two years to the day it appeared on his popular Kitchen Nightmares programme.<\/strong> <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Nottingham\u2019s Curry Lounge, owned by keen restaurateur Arfan Razak, became the first Indian venue to take part in the show in August 2007.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Despite early promise when the restaurant opened, customer numbers soon fell and it was in danger of closing. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>But two years on since super-chef Gordon Ramsey spiced things up at the restaurant, Curry Lounge has gone from strength to strength. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Owner Arfan Razak, who is known to staff and customers as Raz, took Gordon\u2019s comments in his stride, and as a result, has been winning a plethora of national awards and praise from curry-aficionados since.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cAs Gordon wasn\u2019t able to return to our city in April for the one-off programme originally organised by the production company, we thought it would be fitting to hold a two-year anniversary celebration in his honour,\u201d Raz said. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>To celebrate their milestone staff at Curry Lounge will recreate the special cricket match and barbecue with the local Sikh Union Nottingham Hockey &amp; Social Club which was featured in the Kitchen Nightmare programme back in 2007. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0\u201cGordon\u2019s advice was invaluable to turning the business around,\u201d Raz added. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cHe established that for us to succeed, we had to produce authentic regional cuisine, instead of serving up such an extensive menu.
